Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus

Samsung Galaxy S9

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus

Pros:
  • Fantastic screen
  • Feels great
  • Improved speakers
Cons:

  • Average battery life
  • Dual-sensor only on Plus model
  • Some lag with Samsung’s software
You can’t go wrong with either the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus, though if we had to recommend one we’d go with the latter – and that’s because it comes with a dual-camera. The extra lens, in this instance, is used for zooming, making the camera far more versatile.
Both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus sport an identical build and similar internals, with the main differences being that the Plus model is equipped with an additional 2GB of RAM, a slightly bigger battery and the aforementioned dual-camera configuration – luxuries most customers should be able to live without.
The biggest update Samsung treated the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus to is a new variable aperture setting within the camera, letting customers switch between an f/2.4 and f/1,5 aperture whenever they see fit, which should ensure images come out bright and full of detail in almost all low-light environments.

Nokia X5 will be available outside China, re-branded to Nokia 5.1 Plus

Nokia 5.1 Plus

In a sudden move, HMD just confirmed that its recently released Nokia X5 won’t remain a China-exclusive smartphone for too long. Of course, this just comes to confirm our previous speculation that a variant of the device called Nokia 5.1 Plus would sail the Global waters, after the X5 Chinese launch.

In a clear allusion to previous devices, HMD’s Juho Sarvikas replied to a fan on Twitter saying that they won’t need another poll to whether decide or not if the handset would be launched outside China. Despite the confirmation, Sarvikas failed to inform a schedule for the Nokia 5.1 Plus global release.
The Nokia X5 is the second smartphone from HMD to embrace the notch. The handset is powered by the excellent MediaTek Helio P60, paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. On the camera department, the device features a dual-camera setup on the rear (13MP+5MP) and an 8MP front-facing snapper for the selfie lovers pleasure. The smartphone runs Treble-compliant Android 8.1 Oreo and should be updated to Android P a few time after Google’s official release. To fuel all this package of specs, the company packed a 3,060mAh battery.
The Nokia X5 a.k.a Nokia 5.1 Plus will be a decent choice among the sea of mid-range devices, considering all the effort that HMD is putting in offering timely updates and support for its smartphones. Worth mentioning that device’s first batch completely sold out

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Makes an Appearance in Lilac Purple

Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has again made an appearance, this time in Lilac Purple. The phablet is set to be released on the 9th of August at the Galaxy Unpacked event in New York.
The Note 9 hardly looks any different from the Note 8. The same block-like body, infinity display up top with an array of sensors on the top bezel, and the same old chin at the bottom.

The back is where the difference starts, and well, ends. The fingerprint scanner has been repositioned and now takes post below the camera setup. The back and the front are both adorned with curved glass so wireless charging should be a part of the bundle.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 borrows heavily from its predecessor. Even though it might see an upgrade in the internals, it probably would not make a dent in the performance. The S-Pen, however, seems to have received a significant overhaul, with reports confirming the presence of Bluetooth. This makes the S-Pen more than just a drawing tool. Till now we have had images of the Coral Blue and the Midnight Black variants leaked. But there are probably more colours in tow. If a report from earlier is believed, the Note 9 will be available in 5 different colours.

Samsung Galaxy A Series to Sport In-Display Fingerprint Scanner

Samsung Galaxy A

The Samsung Galaxy S10 series is rumoured to sport in-display fingerprint scanners. Recent developments indicate that the Galaxy A series might also feature in-display fingerprint scanners. The leak comes from IceUniverse who took to Weibo in order to reveal this information.
The Galaxy A series is Samsung phones with cosmetic appeal of a flagship and specs of a mid-range phone at a price more than a mid-range phone. The Galaxy A (2019) will apparently sport an in-display fingerprint scanner. The A series of 2018 came equipped with infinity displays like the flagships. So an in-display fingerprint scanner does not seem like a distant dream. But that might come with hefty price tag thanks to “semi-premium” status.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 series is supposed to arrive in three variants, with screen sizes as follows, 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.4-inch. Out of the three, the 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch models will sport in-display fingerprint scanner while the 5.8-inch variant is rumoured to sport a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The in-display fingerprint scanners will make use of Qualcomm’s Ultrasonic fingerprint identification tech. The company is apparently gearing up to launch 60 million smartphones with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Samsung Galaxy X is another piece of tech that Samsung is expected to unveil very soon.
