Samsung ‘Galaxy M’ series to launch soon, replace all other budget ranges

Samsung, galaxy m

Samsung

A new exclusive report from Sammobile has suggested today that Samsung could be planning to introduce a new “M” series of smartphones. Furthermore, it is believed that Samsung might have put a few phones already in progress. The new series is highly anticipated to focus on mid-budget segment. Samsung other series like Galaxy C, J, and ON are likely to vanish gradually as soon as Galaxy M series will come into existence.
Additionally, the report also reveals two model numbers of the new Galaxy M series smartphones and a hint the model name which are SM-M205F for Galaxy M20 and SM-M305F for Galaxy M30. Not only Samsung will use double-digit suffix for M series but they might fall in with A series also. However it would be too early to claim any reports to be true.
We are not done here, the report further reveals that SM-M205F is likely to come in 32GB and 64GB storage options and SM- M305F will possibly have 64GB and 128GB storage memory. Lastly, both phones will carry a dual SIM slot as they usually have in the budget segment.

Galaxy S10: Android 9.0 Pie update confirms 100% borderless screen

Galaxy S10

The Samsung Galaxy S10 could have a 100% borderless screen, reveals the beta release of the Android 9.0 Pie update on the Galaxy Note 9. The new Night Theme feature has an animated demonstration, which shows a smartphone with minimal to no bezels. We haven’t seen any such smartphone from Samsung so far. Therefore, it is safe to believe that the phone showcased in the demonstration video may very well be the Samsung Galaxy S10.
The leaker Ice Universe explains on his Twitter account that he is convinced that this image represents the Galaxy S10. The top edge, usually thicker to accommodate front-end sensors and speakers, is almost non-existent.

Same story from Max Weinbach, a member of XDA Developpers. The man is convinced that Samsung is teasing the borderless design of the Galaxy S10 in the beta of Android Pie on the Galaxy Note 9. “If anyone thinks otherwise, I recall that the beta version of Nougat on the S7 showed the S8, and the beta version of Oreo on the S8 showed the S9, so it makes sense that the beta of S9 and Note 9 displays the S10.” says the user.
As Max Weinbach reminds us, the image coincides with the latest leaks and intentions displayed by Samsung. The manufacturer has decided to bet on a design that is really borderless.
The latest news, Samsung also decided to hide the selfie camera on the Galaxy S10 under the touch screen in a tiny hole. The icon found in Android 9.0 Pie contradicts this leak, there is indeed no hole in the slab. According to the latest rumors, the Galaxy S10 will be presented in February 2019, probably during the MWC of Barcelona. We will tell you more as soon as possible.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro with faulty display will be replaced

Huawei Mate

Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, released its flagship Mate 20 series a couple of days ago. The Huawei Mate 0 Pro stands as one of the best phones in the world today. However, even the very best has its flaws. There have been complaints that a certain region of the Mate 20 Pro display (especially the edges) appears greenish and this problem is getting worse. Some users said that the problem started less than seven days after they got the smartphone while others said the issue was there out-of-the-box. Huawei’s UK community forum manager has previously said that the company will look into the issue.  Now the marketing and communications director of Huawei Finland, Elina Takala, said

Well, it appears that the replacement is not restricted to Huawei Finland and users from other parts of the world like Russia has gotten a replacement. However, you cannot get a direct replacement from Huawei since the company does not directly sell smartphones. A user on Huawei UK community said that he went back to O2 where he bought his Mate 20 Pro and it was replaced without any questions asked. He said that after downloading Device Info HW app from Play store, he realized that his device display was made by LG. The replacement he got has a display from BOE. However, there is no confirmation if this issue is restricted to the LG displays of the Mate 20 Pro

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus

Samsung Galaxy S9

Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus

Pros:
  • Fantastic screen
  • Feels great
  • Improved speakers
Cons:

  • Average battery life
  • Dual-sensor only on Plus model
  • Some lag with Samsung’s software
You can’t go wrong with either the Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus, though if we had to recommend one we’d go with the latter – and that’s because it comes with a dual-camera. The extra lens, in this instance, is used for zooming, making the camera far more versatile.
Both the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus sport an identical build and similar internals, with the main differences being that the Plus model is equipped with an additional 2GB of RAM, a slightly bigger battery and the aforementioned dual-camera configuration – luxuries most customers should be able to live without.
The biggest update Samsung treated the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus to is a new variable aperture setting within the camera, letting customers switch between an f/2.4 and f/1,5 aperture whenever they see fit, which should ensure images come out bright and full of detail in almost all low-light environments.

The specs on this one are not the greatest, but they are not the worst either. The pricing of the HTC U12 Life should at least be $349 which is where the U11 Life started from. Nokia X5 will be available outside China, re-branded to Nokia 5.1 Plus

Nokia 5.1 Plus

In a sudden move, HMD just confirmed that its recently released Nokia X5 won’t remain a China-exclusive smartphone for too long. Of course, this just comes to confirm our previous speculation that a variant of the device called Nokia 5.1 Plus would sail the Global waters, after the X5 Chinese launch.

In a clear allusion to previous devices, HMD’s Juho Sarvikas replied to a fan on Twitter saying that they won’t need another poll to whether decide or not if the handset would be launched outside China. Despite the confirmation, Sarvikas failed to inform a schedule for the Nokia 5.1 Plus global release.
The Nokia X5 is the second smartphone from HMD to embrace the notch. The handset is powered by the excellent MediaTek Helio P60, paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM. On the camera department, the device features a dual-camera setup on the rear (13MP+5MP) and an 8MP front-facing snapper for the selfie lovers pleasure. The smartphone runs Treble-compliant Android 8.1 Oreo and should be updated to Android P a few time after Google’s official release. To fuel all this package of specs, the company packed a 3,060mAh battery.
The Nokia X5 a.k.a Nokia 5.1 Plus will be a decent choice among the sea of mid-range devices, considering all the effort that HMD is putting in offering timely updates and support for its smartphones. Worth mentioning that device’s first batch completely sold out

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Makes an Appearance in Lilac Purple

Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has again made an appearance, this time in Lilac Purple. The phablet is set to be released on the 9th of August at the Galaxy Unpacked event in New York.
The Note 9 hardly looks any different from the Note 8. The same block-like body, infinity display up top with an array of sensors on the top bezel, and the same old chin at the bottom.

The back is where the difference starts, and well, ends. The fingerprint scanner has been repositioned and now takes post below the camera setup. The back and the front are both adorned with curved glass so wireless charging should be a part of the bundle.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 borrows heavily from its predecessor. Even though it might see an upgrade in the internals, it probably would not make a dent in the performance. The S-Pen, however, seems to have received a significant overhaul, with reports confirming the presence of Bluetooth. This makes the S-Pen more than just a drawing tool. Till now we have had images of the Coral Blue and the Midnight Black variants leaked. But there are probably more colours in tow. If a report from earlier is believed, the Note 9 will be available in 5 different colours.

Samsung Galaxy A Series to Sport In-Display Fingerprint Scanner

Samsung Galaxy A

The Samsung Galaxy S10 series is rumoured to sport in-display fingerprint scanners. Recent developments indicate that the Galaxy A series might also feature in-display fingerprint scanners. The leak comes from IceUniverse who took to Weibo in order to reveal this information.
The Galaxy A series is Samsung phones with cosmetic appeal of a flagship and specs of a mid-range phone at a price more than a mid-range phone. The Galaxy A (2019) will apparently sport an in-display fingerprint scanner. The A series of 2018 came equipped with infinity displays like the flagships. So an in-display fingerprint scanner does not seem like a distant dream. But that might come with hefty price tag thanks to “semi-premium” status.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 series is supposed to arrive in three variants, with screen sizes as follows, 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.4-inch. Out of the three, the 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch models will sport in-display fingerprint scanner while the 5.8-inch variant is rumoured to sport a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The in-display fingerprint scanners will make use of Qualcomm’s Ultrasonic fingerprint identification tech. The company is apparently gearing up to launch 60 million smartphones with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Samsung Galaxy X is another piece of tech that Samsung is expected to unveil very soon.

Samsung pushes January security patch to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in China

Galaxy S7
Samsung seems now to be more committed than ever when it comes to updating its phones with the latest security patches. Just a few days after we reported on the Galaxy J1 mini and Galaxy A7 (2017) January security, the latest report from China suggests that two flagship Galaxy phones are now receiving the January update.

Sammobile reports that the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge units in China are currently receiving an update from Samsung. The update carries the Android security patch for the month of January, it is labeled with the version number G9300ZCU2BQL3 and G9350ZCU2BQL3 for the Galaxy S7 (SM-G9300) and Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G9350) in China, respectively.
The update specifically addresses six critical vulnerabilities in the Android operating system, while also addressing several low, moderate and high-risk vulnerabilities associated with the OS. The update also safeguards users against 13 Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items identified in Samsung’s custom software, so installing the update should be of utmost importance to all Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users in China.

The update is available OTA, but might not be immediately available for all eligible device, so you may have to chill a bit, otherwise, you can go to your device Settings > About Device > Software Updates to manually check if the update is available to your device. We advise you ensure your phone has enough battery juice and connected to a Wi-Fi network for a bett

Samsung Galaxy S9’s Selling Price To Be The Lowest In The World

MWC 2018 will take place later next month in Barcelona. This means the annual flagships of many manufacturers will debut as soon as in February. The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are the most anticipated models for many customers, undoubtedly. Earlier we have heard too much about these models. We have seen too many leaked photos. Seems we know about the upcoming flagships … but the pricing. Last year, many manufacturers have had to increase the pricing of their handsets due to the increased purchase cost of components and exchange rate fluctuations. So it’s been assumed the forthcoming Samsung phones will cost more than the original S8/S8+. Fortunately, it’s going to happen the other way around.

Yesterday, Samsung Chinese President Quan Guixian said in an interview that many manufacturers are increasing the prices of their phones in order to provide a user experience. But the Samsung Galaxy S9’s selling price will be the lowest in the world. This simply means their flagships will cost less than the current models. The latter was announced at 5688 yuan ($888). So the S9 should cost around $800.

Quan Guixian
As for now, the SM-G9600 / DS and SM-G9608 / DS have passed 3C certification. Though no one
has claimed these are the alleged Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, we are sure both codenames belong to the aforementioned models.

Samsung Galaxy S9
According to all those rumors and spotted documents, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will come with a Snapdragon 845, 5.8-inch screen with a higher aspect ratio, 12MP rear camera, and support a few trendy features such as facial recognition, IP68 waterproof and dustproof rate, and wireless charging. The assumed launch date is March 16.

Samsung Galaxy On7 Prime with Samsung Mall launched in India

Electronics major Samsung has launched a new smartphone under its exclusive online “On series” in India. The handset dubbed Galaxy On7 Prime was earlier teased through various channels and is now finally official.

Even though the Galaxy On7 Prime is being marketed as a new device, it’s just a case of old wine in a new bottle. It’s, in fact, the Galaxy On Nxt in disguise. Whatever new Samsung wants to offer is in the software locker of the Galaxy On7. And no, we don’t mean Android Oreo. The Galaxy On7 Prime comes loaded with Samsung Mall and Samsung Pay Mini.
Samsung Mall is an app that allows users to search for products by taking snaps or image recognition via camera. In short, it’s like Bixby Vision but integrated with shopping apps like Amazon, Jabong, Shopclues, and Tata CLiQ.
As for Samsung Pay Mini it’s a watered-down version of Samsung Pay that will enable users to pay on-the-go.
As for the specs, the Galaxy On7 Prime sports a 5.5-inch Full HD screen, and Exynos 7870, and Android Nougat. Both the front and rear of the device feature the same 13MP camera with f/1.9 aperture. Sony Xperia XZ Pro, The Next Flagship Coming With OLED 4K Screen + Snapdragon 845

At CES 2018 we saw many devices unveiled by the South Korean tech giant, Sony. But this is only an appetizer for the upcoming models that are going to be unveiled at the MWC 2018 at the end of next month. This the main conference where the annual flagship of Sony should debut. Today, it became known this handset is going to be called the Sony Xperia XZ Pro. Earlier we have heard Sony is working on an OLED screen smartphone with a 4K resolution. Seems this is the phone we have been talking about. But let’s get acquainted with the rest of features of this amazing smartphone.

A few days back, Don Mesa, Sony Mobile’s vice president of marketing for North America, gave an interview to Engadget and revealed some important information about the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ Pro premium flagship. Adding the leaks we have seen concerning this phone, we can have a complete picture of its specs list. As Mesa said, Sony is aiming at making more dual-camera handsets in 2018. We have heard the Sony flagship should come with a dual-camera using a 18MP sensor (a single pixel area of 1.33μm) and a 12MP sensor (a single pixel area of 1.38μm). On the front, it will carry a 13MP single camera. This is not surprising at all, because Sony is known for its great camera modules, and of course, it will put the best ones on its phones.

Apart from this, Mesa said they are working on to bring a full-screen design to their handsets. This doesn’t mean the Sony Xperia XZ Pro will sport a full-screen, undoubtedly. There are more important things rather than a full-screen technology that you can find on myriads of phones. As for Sony, it is more focusing on making the OLED technology better. The XZ Pro is rumored to feature a 5.7-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 4K. Seems nothing prevents it from implementing these plans. So once it happens, the Sony flagship will stand out.

HTC U11 Oreo update is finally hitting EMEA region

After apologizing for delaying the highly anticipated Oreo updated for their 2017 flagship, HTC is finally bringing the Android 8.0 version for HTC U11 handsets in Europe and the other countries of EMEA.

According to reports, HTC has chosen today to start rolling out the latest Google OS versions to countries in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The update weighs 1,3GB so extra storage will be necessary before attempting to install the newest Google’s cookie.

Apart from announcing the update, HTC didn’t disclose further details of what is presented in the referred Oreo version. We already know all the extras brought by the software itself, such as Picture-in-Picture mode, Notifications Channels, and Autofill API. But we are curious to see the goods brought by HTC exclusive software.

We strongly believe that the update brings the Google’s December security patch since the January revision have just been released a few days ago, so we don’t expect that HTC has fastly pushed this new patch to the big update in time for a release.

Currently, the update is going out over the air in an incremental form, so it may take a while until it arrives at all eligible devices inside EMEA. If you didn’t receive the update notification now, wait a little longer and it may appear available.

Huawei Honor 9 Youth Edition Benchmark Results

On December 21, 2017, the leading smartphone maker in China held a new conference and announced a thousand-yuan machine dubbed as the Huawei Honor 9 Youth Edition. The latter comes with the trendiest full-screen of 5.65 inches, its own-made chip in face of the Kirin 659, 3/4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of internal storage, 3000mAh battery, 13+2MP rear camera, Android 8.0 (EMUI 8.0) and so on. As you see, the Honor 9 Lite comes with a decent specs list, but there are too many smartphones coming our way from Chinese manufacturers and sporting identical features. However, when it comes to real performance, most of them fail. To understand whether this model is capable of implementing daily tasks, we are coming with a few benchmark results.

First, the Huawei Honor 9 Youth Edition scores 87.861 points at the newest AnTuTu. This is not a great result, but in comparison to other phones from the same niche, this device performs quite well. Look, the Meizu M6 Note scores 62K, while the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus reaches 63K only.
The phone scores almost identical points at Master Lu benchmark. It shows the Huawei Honor 9 Youth Edition is a classic mid-range smartphone providing a performance similar to the Huawei Honor 7X.

At last, the Honor 9 Lite showcases 906 points at a single-core test, and 3609 points at a multi-core test when testing via Geekbench 4.0. The overall performance is identical to the Snapdragon 625 chip.
Of course, the phone was tested for gaming purposes as well. Three games were played on the Huawei Honor 9 Youth Edition. All of them including Honor of Kings, Wilderness Action, and Chinese CrossFire were played quite smoothly. Though the phone doesn’t support the 60fps mode, 30-40fps rate is quite enough for normal playing.

So we can say, those who have been worrying about the performance provided by this phone can sit tight. Everything in this phone is well-thought.
